Greetings Brothers and Friends,

Lots of interest in our future St Mary MacKillop of the Cross of course, and I’m currently preparing

a beautiful collection of seven hymns, most of them new, under the title track:

From Penola’s Plains

Joyful hymns to celebrate St Mary of the Cross

and the Josephite charism.

This album features From Penola’s Plains of course, as well as six other beautiful hymns including a brand new hymn St Mary’s Call to Life that all people, but especially the young, will find appealing. The publication date is yet to be announced but in the meantime, you will find an audio file below with my good self singing a smidge flat on the top notes(!!!) , but you will find it useful for teaching purposes. Also below you can download a free copy of the music, on condition you all choose to purchase the album when it is available! In the meantime enjoy the song:

I’ve just recently returned from a world Marist Pilgrimage during which I wrote the hymn below. May it help us all to continue choosing life. I chose the title because of a response a young Champagnat Sister in working in a Guatemalan favella gave us to a question asked her by one of my pilgrim group. When asked about her ministry and life, and what she was doing (working in a child care centre), she simply said that for her, it was “choosing life”. Anyway, enjoy the song! God bless, Michael
